Welcome to the A.M.I.G.A. webring!
This webring was made in February 2025 by me (Nico) in response to the increasing homogenization of online social and creative spaces, and the growing rise of fascism and censorship of queer people and experiences.
As someone who has had one foot in the side of the internet that is based around social media/Squarespace/etc. and one foot in the indie web, I am making this as part of my journey to share the joys of the indie web with the many amazing, talented artists I know and am a fan of who are trying to figure out how to build community away from the platforms we've unfortunately become reliant on. I want to see you, yes, you, make your own corner of the internet and join this webring!
First, what's a webring?
A webring is like an internet neighborhood! They were more popular in the 90's and 00's, but they are making a comeback. Using the widget below, visitors can click through to visit sites within the webring, as long as all the sites include the widget. It's a way to build networks between sites and like-minded people.
You Should Join If...
- You are some flavor of queer.
- You make art, be it visual art, writing, web design, music, games, etc.
- YOU actually MAKE the art. AI "art" is not welcome here.
- You have a webpage. Most webrings only allow webpages that are fully coded by hand. That said, I want to make this a space where artists who are maybe just starting their journey away from social media can find community off of those platforms. So, your webpage can be made using a website builder. That said, you should totally make your own webpage. Resources for new and aspiring webmasters soon to come!
